The dwelling below was very dated and had poor environmental ratings and as such, whilst an extension and refurbishment option was first considered and approved, the decision was taken to propose a wholesale demolition and rebuild in a contemporary style.

The site was quite challenging with changes in levels, nearby neighbours in some directions and the site was also very visible in what is a very attractive village.  The existing house was of course 20th Century and as such the architect decided the best approach was to pursue a contemporary design.  the planning officer fully agreed with this approach and granted the permission.
