The building had a bit of a mixed history with some ancillary use to the main house, an office use and part of the building had been used as self-contained dwelling for sometime. As can be seen from the drawing extract below, this was a long thin building with limited opening on one side.
It was therefore decided that we would extend the floorspace and improve the current small residential unit to create two good sized units of accommodation. In order to attain appropriate private amenity space a courtyard was created between the two units. The council raised concerns about the first application submitted and that application was withdrawn. However with the architect we regrouped and resubmitted with some additional information and were delighted when permission was granted second time round within the normal timescales.
