The property, shown below in the photograph, had already been extended in the past and the proposal was to add another element in the form of an end bay with a forward facing gable to provide a better master en-suite and a further reception room.
The property was set in extensive grounds but was sited in the AONB and visible from a public right of way, as such the council were always likely to be sensitive about the proposal as they have historically been very strict on large extensions or successive extensions to dwellings in rural locations. In fact a previous application for the same two storey extension (submitted by a previous agent) was withdrawn in 2015 as the planning officers would not support the application. RCC therefore had to present a comprehensive and robust case in support of the proposal and we were delighted when permission was granted within the normal 8 week timescales.
