Conversion of buildings in the countryside to residential use permitted

This was an interesting proposal to convert a former aircraft hanger and pigsty in open countryside to residential use.

Conversion of buildings in the countryside to residential use permitted

Whilst many are aware of the options to convert barns and other traditional buildings in the countryside to residential use, national planning policy and most local planning policy does not restrict conversions to these type of building.

In this instance the main house would be in a former light aircraft hanger which is a far from traditional building, and recently we attained permission to convert a building that had been used to house greyhounds in training.

The conversion policies are far from straightforward but RCC would be more than happy to explore options for any buildings you have, just drop us an e-mail with your details.
